Steps of the Shamanic Journey

Exploring Shamanism today with Leo Rutherford.

I call the work contemporary shamanism because whilst it is based on the teaching of the ancient shamans – the “wise ones” and visionaries of the old cultures – it is nevertheless modern in approach and deals with the issues and difficulties of contemporary life. Shamanism has always been a non-dogmatic, adaptable set of philosophies, attitudes and pragmatic solutions as it has always responded to the needs of the people of the time.

Contemporary Shamanism

Leo Rutherford talks Contemporary Shamanism.

Shamanism is a path to wisdom which is gained through experience of many facets of life, through rituals, ceremonies, prayer and meditation, trials and tests. It is not a belief system, it is a way of knowledge – that which is known from inside – that which stands up to tests and to the test of time, something that is proven to work, unlike beliefs which are something taken on from outside and not personally tested in the laboratory of life.
