While the cardinal directions are the holders of energy, the non-cardinals are the ‘movers’, the directions that give us the power to become movers of our own wheel of life. This course takes us to the power places.
WEST – August 26th – 30th 2021
Mother Earth – Life, Death and the Dance!
The Earth and our connection to everything physical. This includes our own body which is our Soul’s ‘Vehicle of-Experience’ for this life on earth. The shamanic path is about developing our personal sovereignty, our right to Realise our True Self.
LIFE’S GREAT JOURNEY takes us around the wheel to the South to ‘erase personal history’, retrieve our energy from past trauma; to the West to face death and make death an ally and not an enemy; to the North to “Stop the world”, to recognise the world as an energy phenomenon; to the East to clarify the steps to attain self mastery – and thereby life mastery. This is the map of the Great multi-lifetime journey we are all on whether we like it or not!
We cross the wheel from Southeast to Northwest following the road from our ancestry and history. We move from childhood across to adulthood and responsibility for our Self. The function of the Northwest is to develop mindfulness of the rhythms and cycles of life and the web of cause and effect that shapes the future.
I call the work contemporary shamanism because whilst it is based on the teaching of the ancient shamans – the “wise ones” and visionaries of the old cultures – it is nevertheless modern in approach and deals with the issues and difficulties of contemporary life. Shamanism has always been a non-dogmatic, adaptable set of philosophies, attitudes and pragmatic solutions as it has always responded to the needs of the people of the time.
The function of the Northeast is to make certain that all the voices are heard and to call for the vitality and the energy of enthusiasm among the people.

Maps of the Universe
When we go somewhere new, the first thing we usually do is check a map to help in plotting our course. But have you ever had a map of life? I didn’t until I discovered the Medicine Wheel – and what an extraordinary blessing it has been!
